Stainless steel wire mesh products may rust under some particular conditions, and their steel grade also affects their corrosion resistance. For example, 210 grade stainless steel wire mesh products are actually stainless steel wire mesh products containing no nickel, that is to say, the chemical composition of stainless steel wire contains no nickel at all! Nickel is a rare metal, which serves to prevent corrosion in stainless steel wire. But under general conditions, like in a coastal city, if 201 grade stainless steel wire mesh products serve for six months to twelve months in acid or alkali environments, rusty spots will appear! Then will 304 grade stainless steel wire mesh rust? In theory, the answer is No. But under high temperatures, acid, alkali or coastal salty conditions, in addition to the importance of nickel content (at least 8% in weight terms), the carbon content will have to be considered as another vital factor affecting corrosion resistance. The more carbon stainless steel wire mesh products contain, the more easily they rust. Generally stainless steel wire mesh products will not rust if the carbon content is small enough. As a rule, if the carbon content is not more than 0.06%, 304 grade stainless steel wire mesh products won’t rust, while if it is more than 0.06%, they will easily rust.
