Woven wire mesh often provides good performance than a wire wrapped screen in unconsolidated formations. The screen consists of a perforated basepipe and a non-bonded mesh filter cartridge. The perforated outer shroud protects the mesh filter during deployment, while the dimples in the shroud lend stability to the mesh and ensure the filter layer remains overlapped, maintaining sand control integrity and reducing potential failure due to erosion
