What is the difference between mesh size and Micron?

Mesh size means the number of openings per inch.

But micron tells us the nominal opening size.

Both mesh and micron size can specify the wire mesh sizes, and they can convert to each other.

For example, if mesh is 150, we can know the aperture size is 0.10 mm, approximately 100 micron. So when we mention 150 mesh and 100micron, these two meshes may be the same. Because 150 mesh stainless steel mesh needs to be woven by plain type. But 100 micron fine wire mesh can be woven by plain (150 mesh ) or plain dutch (24×110 mesh) weave. So they aren’t exactly the same as each other.
